Agency: Asian Pacific Community Fund The mission of APCF is to meet the diverse needs of Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) by building healthier communities, developing API leaders, creating a stronger API voice, and providing the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. APCF does so by generating funds for its 29 Affiliate Agencies primarily through workplace giving programs. APCF’s Affiliate Agencies provide programs and services to over 250,000 clients annually in 27 Asian languages plus English and Spanish. Programs and services include youth programs, health care, emergency assistance, affordable housing, violence prevention and much more. Summary and Position Responsibilities: The Marketing & Outreach Fellow will be responsible for marketing & outreach activities at APCF, which includes building relationships with Affinity Groups, Associations, etc. in order to grow awareness of APCF, coordinating outreach events, conducting marketing research, event planning, program coordination and more. Other responsibilities may include assisting with grant writing, other reporting, and assisting the Executive Director and other staff with various tasks.
Responsibilities: (May include some or all of the following) Marketing & PR • Research & provide data on API community needs and demographics and donors • Research & create marketing/news articles • Create, produce and distribute annual report & quarterly e-newsletter • Assist in production of organization videos and PSAs • Manage and update listserv and contact database • Update and maintain website content • Update and maintain APCF’s presence on social networking websites maximizing internet exposure for APCF • Update organization information on all the various internet postings • Serve as media relations contact for the organization • Create & maintain media contact list & press kits, write press releases & media alerts • Coordinate press conferences Outreach • Seek out and build relationships with Asian Affinity Groups, Asian Professional Organizations, etc. • Coordinate outreach events • Make presentations at meetings and events Event Planning • Research event locations and coordinate site visits • Secure guests, track attendees and process payments • Assist with post-event follow up • Update and maintain event website and online marketing and processes Program Coordination • Research and collect information on scholarship programs • Assist with outreach to students to obtain applications • Assist in the development of application and application acceptance procedures • Other tasks as they arise Skills/Qualifications: Required • Self-starter with strong project management, organizational skills • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate project with maturity, initiative and timeliness • Desire and ability to work with a diverse group of people in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Self starter and attention to detail is a must • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and internet research • Proficiency or ability to quickly become proficient in creating websites and graphics programs • College degree or active enrollment • Minimum of 18 years of age, US citizen or permanent resident status • Ability to work a flexible schedule (some night and weekends may be required) • Must have transportation to attend meetings and events throughout LA County Preferred • Understanding and familiarity of the Asian/Pacific Islander community in Los Angeles County • Ability to speak, read & write Chinese, Japanese and/or Korean • Excellent public speaking skills Interested applicants should send cover letter, resume and 3 references with “Marketing & Outreach Fellowship” in the subject line emailed or faxed to: Melody Lam, Deputy Director,
